Naval Deployments as of 8/12/2024

From the US Naval Institute:

While the US is deploying (well-signaled) extra forces to the Mideast, the Geopolitical Risk index (GPR) has remained remarkably subdued (through 8/12).

Under another post, Bruce Hall proved once again he is the most clueless person on the planet when it comes to economic issues – this time being over the Harris plan to build more affordable housing. Brucie fired off some stupid questions and comments and a couple of links that added nothing to the policy discussion. Yea Brucie’s usual. Now I seemed to recall that our host had post on the 2024 Economic Report of the President, which had Chapter 4:

Increasing the Supply of Affordable Housing: Economic Insights and Federal Policy Solutions

Clearly little Brucie boy failed to read this chapter back then but the rest of us should (even if the economics is way over Brucie’s brain).

Briefly mentioned in Chapter 4 of the Economic Report of the President:

The History of Zoning Laws In America
A study of the laws that determine where people can live, work, and play and the effects it has had on America
      Robert Howell (2022)

Zoning laws have a complicated history in America. The earliest known zoning law in America was in San Francisco in 1867 when they attempted to remove slaughterhouses from the rest of society. The law was upheld by the court case Ex parte Shrader. The opposite outcome was experienced by San Francisco. Ostensibly to prevent fire hazards, the city required that laundries in wooden buildings have a license. The true nature of the law, however, was much darker. Any laundry business owned by a white proprietor received their license while none of the Chinese proprietors did. Thankfully, this racist interpretation was challenged by owner Yick Wo. He refused to close down his store and as a result, was imprisoned. His case, Yick Wo versus Hopkins, challenged the city’s interpretation of the law and the Supreme Court concurred stating that the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment prevented him from being discriminated against. Unfortunately, this same standard was not applied to offer him citizenship in America.

Trump says he is ‘entitled’ to personally attack Kamala Harris as his allies beg him to focus on her policies

“I think I’m entitled to personal attacks,” Trump said in response to a question that mentioned some of his allies’ uneasiness. “I don’t have a lot of respect for her. I don’t have a lot of respect for her intelligence, and I think she’ll be a terrible president. And I think it’s very important that we win and whether the personal attacks are good, bad — I mean she, certainly attacks me personally, she called me weird.”

Trump is upset he is being called weird? What a little baby!

Hey Donnie boy – let us give you a clue. We have zero respect for you as we get your IQ is less than 50. And yes – well respected American Presidents have rated your the worst President ever. Why? Because you tanked the economy, you undermined our national security, you fostered hate and violent crime, and you made the US the laughing stock of the world. Other than that – you’re a great guy!

So he think its about what he is “entitled to”????

That is just weird. The only question is what will be the most productive path forward – and that is what his allies are addressing. But Trump cannot get his head out of his ass and think the question is about him, and what he is entitled to.
