“Trump does not rule out sending US troops to Gaza”

MilitaryNews just now:

Trump is not ruling out sending U.S. troops to secure Gaza, saying in response to a reporter’s question: “As far as Gaza is concerned, we’ll do what is necessary. If it’s necessary, we’ll do that.”

Naval deployment (open sourced) as of yesterday.

Just offhand, I don’t see an ARG in Med, but this is a very incomplete depiction (there are 10 ARGs). Wasp ARG was in the region October-November 2024.

so all of those palestinian supporters who endorsed trump during the election, because they could not get stronger conviction from the democrats, got what they deserved. you never support your enemy and penalize your friend because the friend did not go far enough for you. democrats were always giving to provide more support to palestinians than the republicans, who were never going to support palestine. never. trump the land developer just gained access to a bunch of beach front property. the folks in gaze will get nothing in return.

Abandoning the Democratic candidate who is your ally because that candidate doesn’t give you everything you want is pretty much the post-Tip O’Neil history of the Democrats. Labor, in particular, but Naderites when Gore ran and white women when Hillary ran, as well. We’ll show that moderate majority who’s in charge!

I will say, Biden did betray every humanitarian principle by supporting Netanyahu’s war. More understandable than the Naderite gesture.

as I said, you get what you asked for. maybe in the future, people can resist the urge to be so petty and actually focus on their long term goals. I know, that is a lot to ask in the modern world. but this is a lesson very progressive folks need to hear and learn-speaking to you aoc. hurting the only people who have any capacity to help you in the future is not good practice. unless you really do not want what you preach to begin with.

The take I’m hearing from Mid-Eastern politics watchers is that Trump is throwing Netanyahu a lifeline by proposing what is essentially a radical Zionist position. Without the agreement of Jordan, Egypt, or some other country in the region, it can’t happen. Trump is happy to have domestic headlines focused on outrageous nonsense while he dismantles democracy.

Lebanon and Syria look like candidates for relocation when staring at the map, but Israel couldn’t go for them. They’d be breeding grounds for new generations of fighters, too close to Israel.

Only if Likud and friends want a permanent external enemy would…oh…

Boots on the ground in the Levant was not a good idea when Reagan did it. I don’t think it a smart idea now.

White House press release today: The President signs No Men In Women’s Sports Executive Order into Law.

Sign an executive order into law! I guess that cartoon I saw in 8th grade civics class “How a Bill Becomes Law” is outdated. May as well adjourn Congress since they aren’t needed anymore.

remember when all of the republicans, folks like rick stryker and bruce, complained about Obama presidential overreach? remember how they complained about Biden taking action beyond the presidency? strange how quiet those complainers have become while trump tramples all over the idea of presidential overreach.
