ADP reports the loss of 33,000 private jobs in June. The losses were in small businesses, which shed 47,000 workers, and mid-sized firms, which shed 15,000. Among sectors, losses were in financial services, business and professional services, health care and education. Not the sectors most directly hurt by tariffs.
The last time ADP reported a private job decline, a 53,000 drop in March, 2023, BLS reported a 48,000 gain. We’ll see tomorrow whether BLS reports a drop in private employment for last month.
