White House Pulls EJ Antoni Nomination to BLS Chief

From The Hill:

Source: Times of Israel.

The White House is withdrawing the nomination of E.J. Antoni to lead the Bureau of Labor Statistics, an AP source says. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the White House action, which hasn’t been publicly announced.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Senate received paperwork formally withdrawing Antoni’s nomination on Tuesday, the person said.

I would celebrate the withdrawal from nomination of a completely unqualified individual (including his unrecanted recession call of 2022, failure to explain his construction of alternative deflators, misunderstanding of (BLS) import price indexes, reference to a century of GDP data when only 75 years exist), but the possibility remains that Mr. Trump will now nominate someone even less qualified (hard to imagine, but very possible).

On top of that, anybody who puts a painting of the Bismark in place of honor instead of (say) the Missouri shouldn’t be in charge of anything in the USG.

don’t rejoice, he may simply be saving antoni for a cabinet level nomination. or a judgeship.

Very good news. I cannot imagine that the White House did this because they understand the damage of putting moron in that job. More likely that some GOP senators let them know that they could not support him. The Project 2025 administration faced a humiliating hearing followed by a failed vote in the senate – and decided it would not be worth it. They will find a more low key, but highly obedient person. All they need is someone who will dismantle the collection of facts such that they can create their own.

TACO Tuesday? Trump has backed down from his 100% tariffs on pharmaceuticals, saying he is renegotiating.

100% tariffs — 1,500% discounts — something in between? Just whatever his brain worms say from day to day.

Nobody knows nothin’. What a way to run an economy.

Keep in mind that they didn’t pull his nomination on his lack of qualifications. They pulled his nomination because of his embarrassing social media history which they didn’t want to see come out in the hearings on TV and video. Pretty nasty stuff including sexually suggestive stuff about Kamala Harris, Nazi themed stuff and disgusting misogamy. They were just fine with his “qualifications” by which they mean complete subordination to their Dear Leader.
