Expect More of This

House Representative Gooden’s recent comments discussed in LA Times:

On Wednesday, Rep. Lance Gooden (R-Texas) appeared on a Fox News show to discuss President Biden’s appointment of Dominic Ng to lead the country’s trade interest in Asia. House Republicans, including Gooden, have written to the FBI with claims that Ng should be investigated for potential ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

“I think that Judy Chu needs to be called out,” Gooden said during the interview. “I question her either loyalty or competence. If she doesn’t realize what’s going on, then she’s totally out of touch with one of her core constituencies.”

Here is Representative Gooden’s rejoinder.

Rep. Lance Gooden said, “Rather than following facts that indicate the presence of Chinese espionage, Chu and Jeffries are playing the race card in a sick display of disloyalty to our nation.”

Just expect more (much more) of this type of modern McCarthyism. It shows up in comments on this blog, per Mr. Steven Kopits.

Now, do I think Menzie is a China apologist? No. Do I think Menzie is thoroughly intimidated by China? Absolutely.

But he is hardly alone in this.

Nevertheless, there is a bigger picture. If China follows trend, if this trend leads to open conflict with the US, then Menzie will regret not having taken a more public and determined stand to argue for democracy in China. As I have stated: Our best hope for China’s peaceful rise to superpower status is the rapid development of that country’s internal democracy.

I listened to Rep. Judy Chu this morning and she is a very reasonable person who has served our nation well. Lance Gooden is a disgusting MAGA type.

“The conservative news outlet the Daily Caller published a story that alleged Ng had ties to Chinese intelligence groups and might have violated the Espionage Act. The outlet published similar claims about Chu.”

Well who runs the Daily Caller. Well known liars who are flaming racists.

They should be investigated? They are investigated, by the FBI, as part of the vetting process for government appointments. And any member iof Congress with 2 brain cells to rub together knows that.

The only case I am aware of in which a nominee was not thoroughly investigated is that of Brett Kavanagh. Many allegations of sexual misconduct were made, but not investigated because of Trump administration interference.

But Menzie, don’t you remember Kopits told us his sister-in-law (??) was Korean?? That clears Kopits of all hateful/racist statements. Don’t you know the rules Menzie?? Heck, slave owners had “intimate relations” with some of the slaves they whipped and worked to death. So probably when they whipped them it was like a love tap or something. I mean that’s just common sense any southerner American can understand.

As Menzie has pointed out this stuff is not going away any time soon. The higher the tension between America and China, Chinese Americans, and other Asian Americans, will face the brunt of DISPLACED American anger/hate. If I was Asian American, depending on what part of town or region of America I was in I would carry a registered/conceailed 9mm pistol or very similar such small firearm. There is nothing wrong with protecting yourself and/or your family. Just remember anytime there are children in the house, it should be locked away.

I had Kimchi as an after dinner snack tonight. The funny thing is I used to eat Kimchi very often as a pre-meal appetizer when I lived in China while waiting on my food in Korean restaurants, I would have Kimchi and sip beer with the Kimchi (not for the digestively faint-hearted, but damned tasty as hell and helped clear out the intestines) ) I also like Wasabi on some of my foods. Fresh raw Salmon lavishly dipped in Wasabi is like a meal from the heavens. When the Wasabi hits the very back top part of your nose/sinuses. Hot damn!!! I am grateful for Asian contributions to world culture and world science. I think people often think of Asian foods but in fact Asian food probably ranks low in comparison to some of the better contributions. Toyota, Honda, Subaru make some of the best cars in the world, and the biggest bang for your dollar. I would argue (and I know my Dad would too if he was still alive) from roughly 1980 to now, you couldn’t even purchase a car worth a crap if not for Japanese imports in America. Sony used to be (and not long ago) the king of electronics, when you talked about TV, Audio quality. Casio watches have for a long time offered the best value when purchasing a watch. There was a time when “made in Taiwan” was kind of a punchline. Now they make some of the best computer chips in the world. Asus (Taiwan) makes a great notepad computer, and other things of high quality, again a great bang for your buck. Asus is a great product. When you see “Asus” you know it’s a well done product. American consumers enjoy this “IP” and at very low prices which allow the American consumer to stretch their dollar out farther. Vietnam now makes some great clothes at a good price. Vietnam is sure to move into high tech as the time wears on. And I wager Vietnamese well compete in the high tech arena quite well. Again, America benefits from these products because the American consumers who purchase these products have more discretionary income to spend on a monthly/yearly basis.

In short, both foreign made Asian products and native born Asian Americans contribute to American society and make American society better. Including forfeiting their lives while fighting in America’s military branches. What more exactly would we ask of them??

One may ask why a white person (like Steven Kopits) are not required to speak up against every white person who does something wrong? Perhaps because it is an absurd concept that sharing genetic similarities makes you an authority and spokesperson for other individuals and groups of individuals. Must all Californians speak out whenever a Californian does something wrong? How about all redheads? What are the criteria that suddenly makes a person responsible to condemn another person or group they have no power over?
