Off topic – Iran wants Trump dead:

This has been planted in the press by the guys who are responsible to see that it doesn’t happen. Three possible motives come to mind:

    – Responsible agencies have the situation well in hand and want to let us know. This is perhaps related to the huge reputational hit that the Secret Service has suffered.

    – Responsible agencies are afraid Iran is about to make them look bad and want to immunize themselves from as much blame as possible. This is perhaps related to the huge reputational hit that the Secret Service has suffered.

    – Somebody with access to information wants to do Trump a favor by making noise about what a big deal he is.

Today’s retail sales data were quite good for June, pretty good for Q2:

My choice of retail series clears out two major distortions.

Some of that apparent slowing trend in the quarterly plot is probably due to lower inflation – don’t hold me to that, ’cause I haven’t checked the data.

Does this retail sales data those products from My Pillow and Trump’s bibles and golden basketball shoes?
