Iran has launched drones against Israel.

Just the wildest speculation on my part –

There was concern Iran would attack U.S. facilities in retaliation for Israel’s attack on Iran’s Syrian embassy. A direct attack on Isreal probably serves the domestic need to retaliate, and avoids provoking a direct U.S. military response. So we may, in this sad, narrow sense, be off the hook.

Former beauty consultant and current Senator from the State of Tennessee, Marsh Blackburn, has called for the U.S. to launch strikes against Iran in retaliation for Iran’s strikes against Israel, which were in response to Israel’s attack on an Iranian embassy. An eye for an eye, until very one is blind.

Of course, the Trump administration killed an Iranian Guard leader in Iraq, but that was generally seen outside the Trump White House as stepping over the line. Odds are, Biden will not sanction attacks on Iranian soil unless there is an escalation against U.S. forces or property. Blackburn is setting up another issue about which to criticize Biden.

As far as I can tell, Trump has only said the attack on Israel wouldn’t have happened if he were president (blah, blah, blah), but has not called for U.S. retaliatiatory strikes. We’ll see.

Blackburn is doing her John McCain routine “bomb. bomb, bomb – bomb Iran”. Like war is some Beach Boy song? Pathetic.

Some on CNN went nuts over this but a few people paying attention had the same reaction that Kevin Drum had:

      Iran sues for peace
A couple of weeks ago Israel launched a missile attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus, killing a general of the Revolutionary Guard. Today Iran retaliated

Drones? And a few small missiles? All of which Iran knew would be routinely shot down? This was obviously intended to be a pinprick attack, just enough to save face but not to do any serious damage. It couldn’t be more obvious if Iran spelled out a message on the moon. For now, anyway, this is yet another example of President Biden getting the job done. He made it clear to Iran that they crossed a line a few months ago, when a militia attack killed three American soldiers, and they’ve been quiet ever since. They couldn’t literally do nothing in response to the embassy attack, but this is the next best thing. They plainly have no interest in escalating things to a point that might get the US directly involved.

Recall that Iran also avoided major harm to U.S. people or interests in its response to the assassination of Qasem Suleimani. There may be a pattern here. The public is not wild about Iran’s leaders, and was in the street in tens of thousands not long ago over the killing of in innocent young woman. Bringing down a U.S. retaliatory response aimed at weakening Iran’s leaders would be plain stupid.

Marsha Blackburn and her ilk want either war, a trumped-up* excuse to attack Biden, or both. Idiots.

        * Perhaps I should capitalize “trumped”.

Back to that alleged food price inflation:

    https://jabberwocking.com/food-inflation-is/
Food inflation is close to zero

Kevin Drum in an excellent post takes down that incessant parade from MAGA MORON Bruce Hall who continues to LIE about food prices. BTW in case you are wondering what has happened since before the pandemic, Kevin adds:

Food is up 27%. Earnings are up 30%.

Hey Brucie – Kevin has called you on your LIES. Now he allows people to comment. Funny thing – Bruce Hall has never had the guts to comment at Kevin’s place.
